Laurocapram, also known as Azone, is a chemical compound commonly used as a skin penetration enhancer in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations. Its chemical structure is based on a cyclic amide, and it is effective at improving the delivery of active ingredients through the skin barrier.

Xi'an Huawave Biotech Co., Ltd. is a professional Laurocapram manufacturer and Laurocapram supplier . We are committed to providing customers with professional research and development, production and sales, as well as OEM and ODM processing services.

Mechanism of Action:

Laurocapram works by disrupting the lipid bilayers in the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin). This disruption:

  1. Increases the fluidity of the lipid layers.
  2. Enhances the permeability of the skin, allowing active molecules to penetrate more effectively.
  3. Facilitates both hydrophilic and lipophilic drug absorption, depending on the formulation.

Applications:

1. Pharmaceutical Use:

  • Transdermal Drug Delivery: Laurocapram is widely used in transdermal patches and topical formulations to improve the systemic absorption of drugs. Examples include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), hormones, and certain antibiotics.
  • Local Drug Delivery: Enhances the delivery of medications like corticosteroids, antifungals, and anesthetics for localized skin conditions.

2. Cosmetic Industry:

  • Used in creams, lotions, and gels to enhance the absorption of active ingredients such as vitamins (e.g., Vitamin C, Vitamin E), peptides, and other anti-aging or skin-nourishing compounds.

3. Veterinary Medicine:

  • Laurocapram is employed in veterinary formulations for transdermal drug administration, especially for animals where oral administration is impractical.
