Vitamin K2 is also called menaquinone, Vitamin k2 MK-4 and Vitamin k2 MK-7 are the most important menaquinones. Vitamin K2 has several different subtypes, but the most important ones are short-chain MK-4 and long-chain MK-7. M stands for menaquinone, the K stands for vitamin K, the number represents the number of isoprenoid side chain residues.

Vitamin K2 powder is insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents and vegetable oil. It can be used as nutrients in food industry and nutritional supplements.

 
     
Vitamin K2 is a collective name for a series of terpene side-chain compounds containing 2-methyl-1, 4-naphthoquinone parent nucleus and C3 position with varying numbers of isoprene structural units, which can be classified into K2(10), K2(20), K2(35), K2(40) and so on, according to the number of carbons on the terpene side chain.
Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin with derivatives of the naphthoquinone moiety of chlorophyll quinone bioactivity, and is one of the essential and important vitamins indispensable to the human body.
Vitamin K2(35), on the other hand, is vitamin K2 with 35 carbons on its terpene side chain; vitamin K2(35) is also known as menaquinone-7, which is named after its terpene side chain with seven isoprenoid side chains. Vitamin K2 is the only biologically active form of vitamin K. It is mostly used to accelerate blood clotting, maintain clotting time, and treat bleeding disorders caused by vitamin K deficiency.
 
1. Introduction of calcium into the bone: Vitamin K2 has the ability to facilitate the carboxylation of primary osteocalcin secreted by osteoblasts into activated osteocalcin, thereby promoting the deposition of calcium ions in the blood into the bone. In the event that the body's vitamin K2 reserves are sufficient, it can activate osteocalcin. The activated form of osteocalcin exhibits a distinctive affinity for calcium ions, which can facilitate the transfer of calcium into the bone, thereby promoting calcium salt deposition and, consequently, bone mineralisation. 
2. The treatment and prevention of osteoporosis: vitamin K2 is involved in the generation of bone proteins, which then co-generate bone with calcium. This process increases bone density and prevents fractures.
3. Vitamin K2 has been demonstrated to prevent the progression of cirrhosis to liver cancer.
4. The treatment of vitamin K2 deficiency haemorrhagic disease involves the promotion of plasminogen formation and acceleration of blood clotting, thereby maintaining normal clotting time.
5. It has diuretic properties, enhances the detoxification function of the liver, and can reduce blood pressure.
