Tyrosine (Tyr), chemically known as 2-amino-3-p-hydroxyphenylpropionic acid, is an aromatic polar α-amino acid containing phenolic hydroxyl groups. Tyrosine is a conditionally essential amino acid and a ketogenic glycogenic amino acid in the human body.
