1,Biocatalysis in Cellulose Decomposition:
Cellulase plays a biocatalytic role in decomposing cellulose, breaking it down into oligosaccharides or monosaccharides such as glucose.
2,Synergistic Action:
The different components of cellulase work synergistically to degrade cellulose. For example, endo-β-glucanase randomly cleaves the amorphous regions of cellulose polysaccharide chains, producing oligosaccharides and new chain ends. Exo-β-glucanase acts on the reducing and non-reducing ends of these polysaccharide chains, releasing glucose or cellobiose. β-Glucosidase then hydrolyzes cellobiose into two molecules of glucose.
